Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about CRA clad pipe, lined stainless steel pipe, material selection, quality certification, and ordering.

Products & Technology

What is CRA clad pipe?

CRA clad pipe is a bi-metal composite with a carbon steel outer wall for structural strength and a thin corrosion-resistant alloy (CRA) inner liner. The liner is metallurgically bonded using ZONX RSP™ (Right Spinning Pressure) technology, achieving bonding forces of 0.2–16 MPa — far exceeding the API 5LD minimum.

What is the difference between clad pipe and lined pipe?

Metallurgically clad pipe (DURACORE) bonds the CRA liner at the atomic level, allowing cut, weld, and bend without delamination — ideal for high-pressure oil & gas and mining. Mechanically lined pipe (AQUACORE) inserts a stainless liner by interference fit — lower cost, best for water and low-pressure applications.

How long does clad pipe last?

Service life depends on operating conditions, but CRA clad pipe typically matches project design life — often 25–50 years in oil & gas and mining. The CRA liner provides the same corrosion resistance as solid alloy at the wetted surface.

What size range do you manufacture?

Standard range is DN15 to DN1400 with 6m or 12m lengths. Custom diameters, wall thicknesses, and lengths up to 12.5m available on request.

Material Selection

Which CRA grade for sour gas (H₂S)?

For sour service, we recommend Inconel 825 (N08825) or Inconel 625 (N06625) per NACE MR0175/ISO 15156. For moderate environments, 316L or duplex 2205 may suffice.

Which grade for mining slurry?

Duplex 2205 or super-duplex 2507 for aggressive slurries with pH below 2 and high chloride content. Our engineers can recommend based on your slurry composition analysis.

Can you supply titanium-lined pipe?

Yes. Titanium (TA2/TA9) liners are available for seawater and marine applications where chloride concentrations exceed 20,000 ppm.

Quality & Certification

Is ZONX pipe API 5LD certified?

Yes. ZONX PIPE holds API 5LD certification — one of only 17 companies worldwide. We also hold ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, HSE, and CNAS laboratory certification.

What testing is included with every order?

Every order includes 100% ultrasonic testing, 100% eddy current testing, hydrostatic pressure testing, endoscopic bore inspection, and full Mill Test Reports (MTR). Third-party witness testing (SGS, Bureau Veritas, DNV) available on request.

What is the bonding strength requirement?

API 5LD requires a minimum of 0.3 MPa. ZONX RSP™ bonding achieves 0.2–16 MPa, with a standard guarantee of ≥ 0.8 MPa — exceeding the industry minimum by more than 2.5×.

Ordering & Delivery

Do you deliver to Australia?

Yes. ZONX PIPE has an Australia office in Burwood, NSW. We ship globally from our Nanjing manufacturing facility and provide local technical support for Australian mining, oil & gas, and infrastructure projects.

What is the typical lead time?

Standard products: 2–4 weeks from order confirmation. Custom specifications: 4–8 weeks depending on diameter, CRA grade, and quantity. Contact us for project-specific scheduling.

Do you provide welding guidance?

Yes. We provide WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), filler metal recommendations, and on-site welding training. Our first-pass welding rate is 97%.

What is the minimum order quantity?

MOQ varies by product and specification. Contact our sales team with your project requirements for a quotation. We support both large pipeline projects and smaller trial orders.
